Description

Organic Teff Flakes are made from the ancient teff seed which is used as a ‘pseudo grain’.

Organic Teff Flakes are a perfect alternative for people who enjoy a hearty breakfast flake but can’t tolerate wheat or gluten.  Is teff new to you?  Teff is a small reddish brown or white seed which looks similar to alfalfa but can be cooked into a consistency similar to cous cous.  This is then flattened into convenient flakes which can be used in baking and as a breakfast cereal or porridge.

Teff was one of the earliest foods domesticated by the Ethiopian people between 8000 and 5000 BC so is considered an ancient grain.  It was coveted by ancient Ethiopians.  This is probably because it is a rich source of nutrition and one 90g serving is a source of Folate, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Copper and Manganese.

Gluten rich options such as wheat cereals often need to be replaced and this is where options like organic teff flakes, organic puffed buckwheat and organic buckwheat flakes are becoming more popular.  Teff flakes make a great option for alternative baking and can be used in a wide range of recipes.
