Organic Earl Grey Tea Loose Leaf…..a very posh English tea
Legend has it that Earl Grey tea was created by a Chinese mandarin tea master as a gift for Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl of Grey and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1834.
The organic black tea in our Earl Grey originates from the Putharjhora tea garden in Northeast India close to Bhutan. The estate workers are empowered to make decisions and benefit from a Fairtrade partnership with the management. It is one of the best examples of worker empowerment we have seen in India. The composting of materials on the estate to provide nutrients to the tea bushes is a shining example of how organic systems really work on a large scale.
Italian organic bergamot oil and Egyptian organic marigold petals are gently mixed to the black tea to create the quintessential Earl Grey flavour.
Bright and lively with notes of zesty citrus
