Description

These Organic Whole Red Lentils, also known as ‘Football Lentils’, are perfect in soups.

Packed with iron, protein and fibre, these organic whole red lentils are very versatile and can be used in a number of dishes, including dahl, lentil burgers or stews. Unlike our organic red split lentils, the skin of these have been removed, leaving the inside of these lentils whole and not split. With a brilliant orange colour, they really do add a comforting warmth to many dishes and are quick and easy to cook.

Lentils are often a staple for vegetarians, as they can be used in substitute of meat to increase protein intake within the diet. With a quick cooking time, they are perfect for weeknight dinners as they are super easy to integrate into many different meals.

If you like lentils, try some of our other varieties, including beluga, brown or French type lentils.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Lentils don’t require pre-soaking before you cook them but soaking them will reduce their phytate content.
  2. Rinse the lentils first to remove any natural dust or debris.
  3. Fill a pan with 3 cups of liquid to 1 cup of lentils – the lentils will triple in size so use a large pan.
  4. Boil and cover, reducing the heat to a simmer and then cook until tender (20-25 mins)
  5. Add salt at the end of cooking – adding it during cooking will result in tough lentils.
