The peppermint pieces were deliciously crunchy and provided an interesting texture contrast to the firmness of the chocolate. The chocolate was perfectly bittersweet with a good acidity ratio. There was a good ratio of peppermint to chocolate, which made this a balanced, well-flavoured product.
Chocolate & Love work with cooperatives certified by Fairtrade including:
Acopagro, El Quinacho, Cacvra and Oro Verde in Peru, Fundopo in The Dominican Republic, Cocabo in Panama and Cooperative Premium Cacao Sambirano CPCS in Madagascar for the cacao. The cacao is bought directly from the Fairtrade certified cooperatives.
The cacao in this bar comes from Peru and The Dominican Republic.
The cane sugar comes from Asocace in Paraguay and Apoya in Costa Rica and the Bourbon vanilla comes from Komam and Cooppvm in Madagascar.
Chocolate & Love are devoted to creating chocolate bars with high cocoa content and less sugar. There bars are excellent quality, ethically-made, and affordable.
They use FSC-certified paper for the outside paper wrapper of the 80g and 40g bars; paper from responsibly managed forests.
The inside wrapper is a transparent plastic-free film based on renewable resources as it is made from wood pulp from sustainably harvested wood. It is fully compostable and the foil is certified to EU and US biodegradability and composting standards in both industrial and home composting environments (EN13432, EN14995, ASTMD6400 and ISO 17088).

Ingredients: Organic Cocoa Mass, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Peppermint Crunch 10% (Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Natural Peppermint Oil), Organic Whole Cane Sugar and Organic Vanilla Beans.
Cocoa, sugar, vanilla: trade according to Fairtrade standards, 99% in total. Cocoa: at least 67% (chocolate).
