Organic Barley Flakes make a hearty homemade muesli base.

Organic Barley Flakes are made from whole barley grains which are steamed and then rolled.  Organic Barley grain is closely related to wheat and rye.  It is considered ancient because it has been farmed for over 6000 years without changing.

If you like baking then barley flakes can be used to make rustic breads with added depth and nutrition.  We love making crumbles and these make a great wholesome addition to the topping.

These tasty barley flakes are a perfect ingredient to add to granola recipes or muesli bars.  We find forgiving recipes such as banana breads and muffins are great with a handful of barley flakes thrown in for added texture and flavour.

Cooking Instructions for Barley Porridge

  1. Place around 40-50g of barley flakes in a pan and soak in 210ml cold water or milk for 10 minutes
  2. Bring to the boil
  3. Reduce heat and stir for 5-10 minutes until flakes become nice and creamy.
  4. Add more boiling water or milk for required consistency.
  5. Spruce up with goji berriescacao nibsflaxseedmaca powder or any other nutritious wholefoods or fruits you can think of!

Storage

For optimum freshness keep in a cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight.  Store in a tightly sealed bag or container.
