Organic Natural Cacao Powder is perfect for baking.

Organic Natural Cacao Powder is ground down from gently roasted nibs to produce powdered chocolate in its purest form.  The beans are fermented and roasted in a careful process which helps to break down the phytates in the beans and gives them a full roasted flavour – this makes for delicious cakes.  We also stock organic raw cacao powder which is dried naturally in the sun and fermented at low temperatures to preserve all the nutrients in the beans.

Cacao is often referred to as ‘food of the gods’ due to its rich taste and nutritional power.  If you prefer raw products then try our organic raw cacao powder.

Cacao is a complex food containing over 300 chemically distinct compounds and is particularly rich in plant poly-phenols.  The most beneficial of these plant extracts are called flavonoids which have an antioxidant action in the body.

Most regular chocolate choices have milk, sugar and other additives thrown in to preserve it, so if you like the idea of making your own natural versions then cacao powder is a perfect starting point.  Our organic natural cacao powder has been produced without alkalisation.  Alkalisation involves soaking the beans in potassium carbonate to alkalise the PH.

This delicious powder can be used in baking, homemade chocolates and smoothies.  It is a source of selenium which contributes to normal function of the thyroid and immune system.  It is high in a number of important nutrients including magnesium which is necessary for the reduction of tiredness and fatigue – a great reason to make more cacao based foods!
