Organic Millet is an ancient grain which is less common but hugely versatile in the world of whole food.  If you havent tried millet or organic millet flakes before, you will love this tasty and nutritious grain  To make millet flakes it is hulled by removing the indigestible covering before it can be consumed.

Organic millet flakes are a source of plant protein so is a great choice for plant based meals.  It can be added to muesli, granola bars or cooked into a tasty porridge.

This ancient food has a deep rooted history in many cultures and is known in Asian traditions to be alkalising and cooling.  Although it is not a particularly trendy grain in the West, it is known in Asian Culinary History as The Queen of the Grains.  Millet originated in Africa where it is particularly useful as it will happily grow in weakened soil and even survive drought.

Millet flakes can be used as a topping for crumble and add nutrition and texture to a wide range of savoury dishes.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Combine two parts milk to one part millet flakes in a pan.
  2. Bring to the boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
  4. Add fruit and nuts before serving

For optimum freshness keep in a cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight.  Store in a tightly sealed bag or container.
