Golden Milk

We love organic turmeric and in the evening we always fancy warming drinks so we often turn to Golden Milk.

Turmeric has many studied health benefits and it has been used for centuries in India to treat a myriad of ills. Ā It is well documented for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect, its role in fat metabolism and even for its mood enhancing properties.

Golden milk is an ancient elixerĀ but you will find hundreds of modern variations on this delicious drink. Ā We like to use hemp milk due to its uniqueĀ omega fat profile and high mineral content. Ā This recipe is really quick and easy as long as you have the hemp milk made in advance. Ā If you are short of time and want to make this with a different choice of milk then it will taste just as good.

Total Time: 5 mins

Ingredients:

      • 250ml milk of choice ā€“Ā we use homemade hemp milk
      • 1-2 crushed green cardamom pods
      • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
      • Ā½-1tsp ground organic turmeric
      • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
      • 1 tsp honey (go for local or raw – or both if you can)
      • 1 tsp Ā pure organic virgin coconut oil

Method:

  1. Place organic hemp milk, cardamom, cinnamon, oil and honey in a pan and warm slowly.
  2. Once the milk is steaming turn the heat off and add the black pepper and organic turmeric together, mixing slowly.
  3. Serve in your favourite mug (we are serious about good mugs in our house!)

You really can’t go wrong with this recipe. Ā To vary the taste you can add more or less of the honey and spice to create your perfect warming drink.
